Morris Plains, NJ, was incorporated with an elected Mayor and Council that comprised 5 men and 1 woman. Before the incorporation, Morris Plains was under the jurisdiction of Hanover Township.

A native American tribe of the Algonquin known as Lenni Lenape was the first settlers of Morris Plains, NJ. Arrived from England, Thomas Pierson built a sawmill near Central Avenue in 1685, which is now labeled Thompson Pond. ​​​​​​​With time, a small cluster of homes was built near the intersection of Walnut Grove Road and Speedwell Avenue. There were a variety of small farms and a few forges and mills that drew power from Watnong Brook.

​​​​​​​The railroad was extended from Morristown to Morris Plains in 1848, and the town began to grow quickly. First conceived in 1871, State Hospital at Graystone Park was built in 1876. In 1927, the George Washington Coffee Company came into existence, and a plethora of other industries followed soon.

The Morris Plains Borough School has a detailed Common Core-based curriculum for students in the 3rd through 8th grades. The continued success of the students of Borough is a direct reflection of the committed staff and varied activities and programs offered in the arts, athletics, and academics. This school never fails to rank exceptionally well on standardized assessment performance, and the students, compared to their peers across the state, continue to show significant growth and achievement.

This pool is set in a peaceful park at 51 Jim Fear Drive and consists of a basketball court, playground, picnic area, snack bar, a wading pool, and an adult pool.
